What Footprnt reads from Google

Exactly what Footprnt asks Google for, what it does with it, who can see it, and how to take it back. Written so a reviewer at Google can answer the question from this page alone.

This page is a draft. The final wording is being reviewed, and the parts in square brackets are not yet filled in.

The one permission

Footprnt asks Google for one thing: permission to read Google Search Console for the sites you choose. The permission is read only.

With it, Footprnt cannot change a setting, add or remove a site, or touch anything else in your Google account. Google refuses anything beyond reading.

At sign-in, Google also shares your name, your email address and your profile picture. They are used to sign you in and to list your sites.

What it reads

For each site you add, the searches your pages appeared for, with the pages, the countries and the devices, and the clicks and appearances. The last sixteen months, read once, then the last few days each morning.

The sitemaps Google has for the site, and whether each one was read without errors.

Whether Google lists each page, asked page by page, a share of the site on each read.

What it is used for

To draw your site as a map, to show which searches bring people to which pages, and to say what changed and why.

To suggest fixes, to send you a weekly note when you ask, and to tell you when a page or a search moves.

The words of your searches and pages are sent to Anthropic's Claude to write the plain-English summaries, and nowhere else. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use them to train its models.

What it is never used for

Advertising, of any kind. Selling, renting or sharing with anyone. Training a model. Reading a site you did not add.

Footprnt follows Google's user data policy for apps that read its services, including its limited use requirements.

Google's user data policy

Who can see it

You, and the teammates you invite to a site. The people who run Footprnt, when fixing a problem for you.

The services Footprnt runs on hold it only to run Footprnt: Vercel, Neon and Anthropic. No one else.

How long it is kept

The last sixteen months of Google's numbers. Older rows are removed as new ones arrive.

Everything about a site goes when you remove the site. Everything about you goes when you delete your account.

Taking the permission back

Settings has a button to disconnect Google. Footprnt hands the permission back to Google and stops reading that moment.

You can also remove Footprnt from the apps with access on your Google account page. Either way works.

To delete your account and everything in it, email help@footprnt.ai from the address you signed in with. It is done within seven days.
