Privacy policy

What Footprnt reads, what it keeps, who sees it, and how to take it back. Nothing is sold, and nothing is read that the map does not need.

This page is a draft. The final wording is being reviewed, and the parts in square brackets are not yet filled in.

What Footprnt reads from Google

When you connect Google, Footprnt asks for one permission: to read Google Search Console for your sites. It is read only, and it cannot change anything in your Google account.

With it, Footprnt reads three things for each site you add. The searches your pages appeared for, with the pages, countries and devices, and the clicks and appearances, over the last sixteen months. The sitemaps Google has for the site. Whether Google lists each page.

Google also shares your name, your email address and your profile picture, so Footprnt can sign you in and list your sites.

Google's rules for apps like this

What Footprnt reads from Google is used only to show you your own site. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared beyond the people who run Footprnt and the services named below.

Footprnt follows Google's user data policy for apps that read its services, including its limited use requirements.

Google's user data policy

What Footprnt reads from your site

Footprnt reads your pages the way any visitor's browser would: the words, the titles, the links, and how fast each page arrived. It follows your robots.txt.

It keeps the opening of each page and the facts it found, not a copy of the whole site.

What Footprnt keeps about you

Your name and email address, from Google or from the email you signed in with. A token that lets Footprnt read Search Console for you, stored encrypted.

Which sites you added, who you invited, and what you marked as done or skipped. A cookie that keeps you signed in.

Nothing else: no advertising trackers, and no outside analytics on your account.

What it is used for

To draw your site's map, to say what changed and why, to suggest fixes, and to email you a weekly note when you ask.

The words on your pages and the searches they appear for are sent to Anthropic's Claude to write the plain-English summaries. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use them to train its models.

Who else handles it

Footprnt runs on Vercel, keeps its database on Neon, and sends email through [the email provider]. Each holds data only to run Footprnt for you.

Google, Anthropic and these providers are the only ones that ever see any of it. Footprnt never sells data and never shares it for advertising.

How long it is kept

Google's numbers: the last sixteen months. Older rows are removed as new ones arrive.

Your pages: until you remove the site, or until Footprnt stops seeing the page. Your account: until you delete it.

Disconnecting and deleting

Settings has a button to disconnect Google. Footprnt hands the permission back to Google and stops reading.

To delete your account and everything in it, email help@footprnt.ai from the address you signed in with. It is done within seven days, and you get a note when it is.

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in. The marketing pages set none.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that matters is announced on Today and by email before it applies.
